Feel safe about your purchase.
Although Auto Credit 1, Inc. does not provide vehicle warranties, we can offer you a free CARFAX report, which is the first step to protecting yourself against buying a used car with costly hidden problems. CARFAX searches its nationwide database and provides a detailed vehicle history report. We recommend, and feel that it's best to have the car of your choice inspected by an independent mechanic before you buy it.
For about $100 or less, you'll get a general indication of the mechanical condition of the vehicle. An inspection is a good idea even if the car has been certified and inspected by the dealer and is being sold with a warranty or service contract. A mechanical inspection is different from a safety inspection. Safety inspections usually focus on conditions that make a car unsafe to drive. They are not designed to determine the overall reliability or mechanical condition of a vehicle. For more information regarding a "Pre-Purchase Independent Inspection," click here.
Things to Know
"The prospective purchaser of a vehicle may, at his or her own expense and with the approval of the dealer, have the vehicle inspected by an independent third party either on or off these premises." CVC section 11709.
"California law does not provide for a 'cooling-off' or other cancellation period for vehicle lease or purchase contracts. Therefore, you cannot later cancel such a contract simply because you change your mind, decide the vehicle costs too much, or wish you had acquired a different vehicle. After you sign a motor vehicle purchase or lease contract, it may only be canceled with the agreement of the seller or lessor or for legal cause, such as fraud.
"However, California law does require a seller to offer a 2-day cancellation option on used vehicles with a purchase price of less than $40,000, subject to certain statutory conditions." CVC section 11709.2.
