Milbank's Japan practice group is recognized as a leading provider of legal services to Japan's major financial institutions and multinational corporations and to international corporations and financial and other entities doing business in Japan. Unlike many other international law firms that have come and gone since then, we have continuously maintained and expanded our presence in Tokyo throughout Japan's booming growth years as well as during its periods of recession. Milbank's commitment to Japan began in 1925, when founding partner Morris Hadley traveled to Yokohama to prepare an indenture for the Toho Electric Power Company. This commitment was consummated in 1977, when Milbank became the first U.S. law firm to establish an office in Tokyo under its own name. We remain dedicated to maintaining a multi-discipline practice in Tokyo of outstanding reputation and global reach. Our Tokyo team has a considerable range of experience in negotiating complex transactions in the region and works closely across related practice areas throughout our global network of 600 lawyers worldwide.
